My family and I are starting to plan our first big trip to Europe for next summer, and we are looking for destinations that cater well to both kids and adults. We want a mix of relaxing beaches, interesting cultural sites, and plenty of activities to keep our two children entertained. Does anyone have recommendations for regions or specific cities that are easy to navigate with young kids? We would love to hear about places with great public transport and plenty of parks or family-oriented attractions.

Copenhagen is incredible for families! The public transport is seamless, and Tivoli Gardens is a magical spot that kids absolutely adore. It’s very walkable and safe for little ones.

You should definitely look into the Algarve in Portugal. It has beautiful beaches, and while you are there, you might want to check out some underrated European destinations for 2024 to avoid the biggest summer crowds.

Vienna is surprisingly family-friendly! The parks are clean, and the Prater amusement park is a huge hit. Plus, the city is very easy to navigate with a stroller.

We loved Menorca in Spain. It's much quieter and more family-oriented than Mallorca, with shallow, calm waters that are perfect for younger children.

If you want a mix of culture and coast, Barcelona is a great pick. You have the beach right in the city, plus amazing parks like Parc Güell that kids find fascinating.

Amsterdam is very easy to manage. Between the science museum NEMO and the Vondelpark, your kids will never be bored. The tram system makes getting around with kids a breeze.

I highly recommend the Greek islands for a summer trip, but if you want to get away from the tourist traps, read these tips on seeking recommendations for secluded, off-the-beaten-path beaches in Greece.

Munich is fantastic for families. The English Garden is huge, and the city has so many interactive museums that cater specifically to children.

Don't overlook Salzburg! It’s very compact, has a great bus system, and the surrounding mountains offer plenty of easy hikes that are manageable for young children.
