Planning a road trip through the Scottish Highlands - Best route recommendations?

My partner and I are planning a ten-day road trip through the Scottish Highlands this coming September and are looking for advice on the most scenic routes. We want to balance iconic sights like Glencoe and the NC500 with some quieter, off-the-beaten-path roads that offer great photo opportunities. Are there any specific stretches that are must-sees, or perhaps some that we should avoid due to heavy traffic or narrow passes? Any tips on pacing would be greatly appreciated as we want to soak in the atmosphere rather than just spend the whole time behind the wheel.

Ten days is the perfect amount of time for the Highlands! Definitely don't try to rush the NC500 in under five days. Spend your time in Wester Ross; it’s much more dramatic than the northern coast.
